8 Ways to Never Run Out of Content

A couple weeks ago, I gave you some kick-ass ideas for coming up with content. This stuff really works, people, and these are the same sources I use every day.
What I didn’t talk about, however, is HOW to share that content. Lists and lists of ideas are wonderful, sure! But there are so many wrong ways to deliver it to your audience. Here are just three examples:
  • Plagiarizing — there’s a difference between emulating and straight-up copying. Don’t. Do. It.

  • Talking over their heads — sometimes we work so hard to impress people, we just end up turning them off.

  • Boring them to death — You might think you’re reciting the basics, but the people you’re talking to aren’t stupid. If they can get the same kind of information from someone with a little more pep in their step, they are GONE.

So, what the heck do you talk about?

We’re running podcasts, blogs, social media platforms, and going live. That’s a lot of responsibility! Content is my holy grail, and I’ve created a LOT of it. So, here are 8 ways to share and keep your audience totally captivated.

8 Content Strategies That Work

#1: Share Your Failures

.Ever heard that saying, “if you’ve never failed, you’ve never tried anything”? I just don’t trust anyone who isn’t able to share their feelings, and their failures, and get vulnerable about it. That’s just not human to me! Folks seeking perfection are a real turn-off. Don’t be that gal; own up to the stupid things you’ve said or done. I did, and I’m a better person for it.

#2: Share Your Successes

I’m not telling you to brag about the great stuff you’re doing. I’m also not saying that you have to be successful as a business owner to share about it. Share about squatting a heavier weight at the gym! Share about raising your kids to be good eaters. I love seeing entrepreneurs talk about a particularly special moment, like a big sale or a new customer that falls right into their niche. The little wins matter, too.

#3: Tell a Story

Out of everything on this list, telling a story is the fastest way to build your audience. They just love being invited into your world. It’s intimate, it’s engaging, and the story doesn’t even have to be yours!

#4: Use Analogies

Does it feel like you are trying to explain something important to your clients and they just aren’t getting it? Turn the concept into an analogy. It will turn “huh?” into “ah-ha!”

#5: Share Simple Strategies

I encourage you to talk about the strategies you are using in your business—right now—with success. It must be stuff that is easy to follow and easy to mimic. That is CRUCIAL. We naturally overcomplicate, so break a winning strategy down and share it (ya know, out of the goodness of your heart!)

#6: Talk About Your Life

You don’t need to go in-depth about the colonoscopy you just got. People aren’t seeking more baggage, they just want to know that you are a normal person dealing with responsibilities. Work, mom life, stories about your kids . . . this stuff resonates because it reinforces that “we’re all in this together” mentality.

#7: Show Genuine Interest

Don’t post things just to post things. Don’t comment back just to comment back. And please, for pete’s sake, don’t use bots or bait posts to “beat the algorithm.” I can smell you being fake a mile away, and it’s gonna make me click Unfollow SO fast.

#8: Get Audience Opinions

People LOVE giving their opinions. Beware, though, if you’re sharing something potentially controversial. It can get dicey real fast!! If you manage to avoid doing that, your audience will love that you value what they have to say.

There you have it! 8 ways to work smarter, NOT harder, with your content. And if you want to share this list with your clients, great! Just don’t forget to put your spin on it and make it your own.

And, let me know if you think these tips will help, and tag me if you share this post so I can give you a virtual high five!
